I live in the state of California, and was wondering if it’s legal to sell replica designer handbags? If I clearly state that it’s replica does it make it legal?

I’ve heard both ways on the internet, and I’ve also been told it’s by your state. Anyone know?

Define replica. If the bag looks similar to a designer bag but does not copy the logo or claim to be a bag that is not than that would not be illegal.

If you are trying to sell a fake Coach purse that has the coach name on the bag then you are in big trouble. That is copyright/trademark infringement. Which you can face criminal charges for as well as having the merchandise seized and destroyed by the manufacturer. Trust me I know Disney and Nike both have teams that go around looking for knock offs. Also, if a person purchasing the item where to go into a designer store like Coach and have the bag checked the sales person can legally seize the bag if it is a knock off.

Before starting a business always talk to a lawyer to get a clear cut answer.
